In an attempt to cheer the flist up a little, have good things:

-[info]glitterboy1 introduced me to this amazing, amazing young artist called Niroot Puttapipat. Check out his DeviantArt page *now*. He does old-fashioned storybook-style illustration that wouldn't be out of place in books printed a hundred years ago, and he does it *well*. With sparkling colours and *incredible* attention to detail, with amazing watercolour shading that just leaves me breathless. And then there are the silhouette works executed in amazing, sharp detail (check out the flurry of movement of the birds and the princess in the Frog Princess)... god, this guy knows how to create swooping movement and power and beauty and gentle softness at the same time. It's the kind of art you don't really see often these days, but I'm glad someone is still making it. And the guy's only 28! His stuff is just stunning. I'm blown away.

-Nap Tiem! Sleeping animals of all kinds. With brain-asploding levels of cute.

-Strange Maps. Fascinating stuff. I like the Unevenness of Space-Time Convergence, a map of how the UK really looks if you'd measure it by travel distance in hours. (Note that it's from 1981--the London-->Bristol distance seems optimistic what with today's traffic. Unless you're flying).

-I see Torchwood are moonlighting as (*chortle*) plumbers. Apparently it's real and is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They probably destroy every house they ever go to.

-The 6 Creepiest Places on Earth. Cracked.com's lists are of the win, but it was the Ian Fleming bit that made me fucking spit cola.

-Cats don't care. This is what happens with me and Noki every day.

-What Stormtroopers do on Their Day Off. Too fucking hilarious. I wish I had had ideas like this for my action figures. OTOH, the stormtroopers seem to have like five billion points of articulation and are much bendier than my Who guys. The breakdancing killed me. <3

-Vi.sualize.us This may be old hat to some of you, but I've only just discovered this place. It's a site where you can bookmark pictures you've found all over the Web. A bit like a cross between those StumbleUpon/Reddit/Digg kind of sites and Flickr or something. There isn't that much content yet, but I can see how this could become handy--plus, it saves at least some kinds of versions of pics to which the original links have expired. It's already addictive as hell.

-And if that isn't enough to cheer you bastards up, have a picture of Brian Blessed with a motherfucking donkey.

Yeah, it doesn't get much more terrifying than that.
